As we all know, you can't forsee what will happen in the coming season regarding pre-season friendly matches. Management trial players, formations etc etc. However, this match was eventful, Lymington were also relegated last season but theirs was from the Wessex Premier League to Division One.

Newbury F.C. finished second in their league last season. They are a good team who were organised and demonstrated their knowledge and comprehensive experience of playing together.

Andover Town 1–1 AFC Netley

It was a good workout. It gave us the opportunity to try a few things out, and see what would work and what wouldn’t which was helpful. We were missing some stronger players, and trialing some new ones. Which is what friendlies are about this early on.

A thoroughly gloomy afternoon at Portway with relegation confirmed for the first time ever since Town were reborn in 2012. Newport (IoW) were the visitors and Town were hoping that they could at least avoid finishing rock bottom of the league if they could match the score of Aldermaston today. Both teams gave a standing ovation to the Newport keeper Gary Streeter who was playing his last match…

A welcome one-off return to former captain Brendan Holmes - with a hat-trick and a welcome win for Town plus a clean sheet !! A good performance from the team who worked hard for the win.

Town suffered another defeat and that now leaves us at the bottom of the league as AFC Aldermaston won - they are now two points ahead of us with a game in hand.
