When You’re Down There .....

So far it has been a quiet week this run games Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday sees me little time to alter the Jones residence (you mean no time to get into trouble-Ed.) which makes the Editor very happy. After showing Jobless a video of a cat working security in building and saying that she could do that job I’m thinking our relationship may have cooled somewhat.

After Saturday’s fantastic win it was with hope that I found myself driving to The Fortress Portway, with Blue Army Alan away watching the Saints the once mighty Blue Army was now staring at single digits with my steed parked up a short walk to the gate found Graham Cousins in conversation with Gary the Gateman, so after a how’s your father and a slow shuffle through the gate found myself heading towards The Bar of Wonder and Pas the Barman, to see if he would be able to recommend anything for my cold. Luckily he had an old Irish remedy nearly miraculous in every case, A helpful suggestion that I might pour it for him was given some words which I interpreted as NO! With refreshment in hand it was time to put the names on players board just about enough time (well stop gassing-Ed..)

Just made it round the back of the main stand when Town kicked off the usual first 5 minutes saw us in our own half, Town managed to move the ball forward only for the attack to be snuffed out and countered for the visitors (Shirley) to gain their first corner of the night to be rapidly followed their second. Town cleared and broke, a cross across the visitors box saw it fall to Luke Holden on the outside of the box whom was brought down, the ref played on, the ball on the moist surface skidded out and found Son of Crouch, the pass to Malachi Johnson was perfect who swept the ball to the right of the keeper. 1-nil Town wow after Saturday had we turned a corner? For the next 10 mins it was pretty even although Town as normal seemed to be penned in their own half. Gary the Gateman rolled round to The Bank End to join me and rejoice in the lead and now the next part will take you up to Half Time and a story within the story. At work one of the Dispatch Team is an Spurs fan in which we discuss being in the same boat the finer point of a relegation battle the decisions that seem to go against you, the way the ball bounces and should we find another sport to follow. I won’t be upset over Shirley’s second goal after corner number 6 it was just a matter of time. Goal number 1 no ,no, no, no, no, a miskick clearance skidded off Sam Scanelli’s boot straight to a visitors player who returned it straight to their forward next to Sam a turn, a slip by Sam and the ball was past Big Chris. Goal Number 3 a wild clearance kick saw the ball launched upwards, the world moved a full rotation before returning. The only player to challenge was the smallest player for the visitors, now he jumped and didn’t even know if he would head it let alone where it would go if he did, the ball did head, shoulder the bounce came lucky for Shirley one pass later and a swift turn was almost a carbon copy of goal number 1. A miskick and a nowhere header and we were 3-1 down. When you’re down you’re down there and sometimes there is a feeling which is not good. A walk round to The Alan Mussell Shed End past the Main Stand with a quick wave to Beryl and her Granddaughter (you have to stop punishing her like this). Town Kicked off visitors had 4 more

corners Town squandered 1 and another denied and the rest I’m going to be honest I am unable to recall.

Final score Town lost 3-1.
