Only a penalty separated the teams at half time but early in the second period Whitchurch were reduced to ten men and Andover took full advantage and in the process kept their first clean sheet of the season.

The majority of the first period was uninspiring and almost half an hour passed before there was any resemblance of a coal attempt. For Whitchurch Ryan Long beat the offside trap only to lose the ball as the Andover defence recovered smartly then for Andover's Gwengwe was disposed as he prepared to shoot. However things began to change as the half time interval approached when Shaquille Gwengwe was brought down inside the area and he duly converted the penalty which, at the time was his third successful spot kick in four matches.

Five minutes after the resumption Andover were awarded their second penalty after Greg Cooper was adjudged to have stamped on Gwengwe and shown a straight red card after which Shaquille Gwengwe calmly put away his second spot kick off the evening. It was not long before Andover went three up as a long free kick was floated into the area and George Higgins timed his run to perfection and plant an excellent header wide of the goalkeeper's reach. Despite their best efforts Whitchurch were unable to dent the increasing confidence of Andover and with twelve minutes left the home side went further ahead. Shaquille Gwengwe found space on the edge of the Whitchurch area and took full advantage to complete his hat trick with his twenty fourth goal of the season. Five minutes later Nick Turpin set up Brendon Holmes who volleyed in a screamer from twenty five yards to complete a handsome victory and put the icing on the cake.
