Andover Town made a midweek short trip to Longmeadow to face Whitchurch United. They made two changes from the starting lineup against Team Solent, Alex Dockree replaced Sammy Pekun and Javier Santafe-Vivo came in for Liam Gilbert. Mcaulie Stubbs and Adam Grange were both making their 50th appearance for Andover Town this evening.

Andover Town started the match well and were enjoying most of the possession but Whitchurch scored in the third minute through Will Gange who raced on to a through ball and calmly slotted the ball past Jarid Hixon. Zach Glasspool angled run beat the offside trap and he cut in and left fly with a shot that Ellis Grant tipped over the crossbar, from the resultant corner the ball was cleared to Mcaulie Stubbs whose shot flew wide. Against the run of play the Jam boys doubled their lead in the twentieth minute, when a Whitchurch free kick from the left was met with a header from Ross Gregory but the ball fell to Sam McCarthy who blasted the ball home. So, Whitchurch had two attempts on goal and scored from both of them. On thirty three minutes Andover Town made a double substitution with Sam Pekun coming on for Zach Glasspool and Liam Gilbert replacing Jordan Brackstone. Just before halftime Rusher cut in from the left and his well hit shot was pushed around the post by Ellis.

Andover went into the half time break trailing 2-0 despite having most of the possession in the first half.

Early in the second half, Andover reduced the arrears when after an interchange of passes between Liam Hibberd and Sammy Pekun the ball was crossed into the area to Alex Dockree who guided the ball home just inside the post. Another chance fell to Liam Gilbert but his shot was tipped round the post by Grant. However, Liam Gilbert got the equaliser for Town when his low free kick somehow managed to find the back of the net. But minutes later Whitchurch were in front again when Jamie Mansell’s shot took a wicked deflection past Hixon into the back of the net. Minute’s later substitute Luke Scholar was sent off receiving two yellow cards. Andover kept pressing and another chance fell to Adam Grange who went through on goal and lifted the ball over the advancing keeper but his effort was cleared off the line. The Whitchurch goalkeeper went into the book for time wasting as Andover continued to press forward in search of the equalising goal their overall play deserved.

The match finished 3-2 to the home side, and as a result Andover Town slipped down to eleventh Place in the league table.
