Andover Town made two changes to the team that started in the midweek match for this encounter against the Wessex League pacesetters. Javier Santafe-Vivo and Rudi Plummer replaced Zach Glasspool and Adam Grange who both dropped to the bench.Also included amongst the replacements was Lewis Gilbert making a welcome return from injury.

Both sides were evenly matched and at times Andover were the better side.The main difference was that Moneyfields accepted their chances whilst the Town failed to do so.In what was a hard fought game,the inconsistent referee was a thorn in the flesh of both teams and managed to issue a total of eight yellow cards, five of which came Andover’s way.This would suggest that the match was over physical but that is far from the truth. Arguably of the total only three were justified whilst two were just laughable. The game was almost half an hour old when the first real effort on target at either end fell to the home side but Jarid Hixon saved well at the expense of a corner. At the other end good work by Callum Sweeney ended with him finding the side netting from a tight angle. Seven minutes before the break the deadlock was broken.There seemed little danger as Moneyfields attacked along the left flank but the cross that came in was inch perfect and from the edge of the area the mercurial Steve Hutchings volleyed home.

Five minutes into the second period Town had a great opportunity to snatch the equaliser. As he chased a long clearance Plummer raced clear to go one on one with Matt Short the Moneyfield Goalkeeper who narrowed the angle and spread himself well to deny the goal attempt. Ten minutes later it was game over when Hutchings secured his brace this time squeezing his volley between the post and a somewhat unlucky Hixon.
