Andover Town exited the Hampshire Senior Cup after a hard fought contest at Westwood Park on Tuesday. Manager Glenn Burnett again made changes but he was able to include three players returning from injury. Craig Blakeman,Ross Gregory,and McCauley Stubbs came in but Lewis Gilbert was unavailable due to work commitments. The early exchanges were mainly between the each penalty area with both defensive units dominant.The first real chance for either side fell to the Andover when Plummer was put through by Gunson but his effort was smothered by the goalkeeper at the expense of a corner. Gunson then set up Blakeman whose effort was cleared off the lie before Plummer’s cross caused problems for the defence but failed to find an Andover shirt. Cowes made the breakthrough five minutes before the break with a goal of high quality.Tom Scovell collected the ball inside his own half,played a perfect one two with Dexter Malin before his volley from thirty yards gave Andover keeper no chance.

At the start of the second period Andover reshuffled their formation with Adam Grange replacing Connor Whiteley and within two minutes Town had equalised when Shane Lock scored with a shot from just outside the area. If the islanders were the better side in the first half, Andover were becoming more dominant in the second.and the Cowes keeper Ed Hatt had to work hard to keep his side in the game. With twenty minutes left and Andover committed to going forward along clearance found Jim Wykes on the half way line and he ran on to score past the advancing Bray. Overall Town played well and with their injury list starting to reduce the results should arrive
