The Blue Army Awards ………… a cheeky look back at the season !!

Been a bit busy when time has been spare and with no word on the Player awards it must to have been left to The Blue Army (well this should be good-Ed.). So, in no particular order lets have it !

Player of the Season as chosen by The Editor – Big Chris Redshaw no arguments from me given us so many chances to be in games always consistent. There is even a permanent ban on him for Man of the Match. Player’s Player of the Season chosen by Big Chris Redshaw - Son of Crouch - Leon Fitzgerald, just for the “if I have to deal with any high balls today…” comment (please just say you didn’t take a poll on this one-Ed.).

Barman of the Season - The Garden Shed Full of Vintage Cider Barman down at Stockbridge. Always gives me and Blue Army Alan a warm welcome and honest we don’t know who dropped the Andover Town beer mats in the bar, not us, chief.

Long Distance Fan of the Season - Lauren Carr, travelled from Australia for 3 games absolute respect !

Goal of the Season - Chosen by Blue Army Alan – On an odd day went down to Laverstock and Ford saw an absolute beast of a volley from the corner of the box to top corner of the goal it’s on the t’interweb somewhere, added bonus, Blue Army Alan and me are clearly visible behind the goal.

Half-time Sweet of The Season chosen by Martina Trapnell – Waitrose Wine Gums specifically my Waitrose Wine Gums, the Red ones Grrrrrrr. Open any Time Sweet of the Season – Great minds think alike when wine gums are not available it’s Drumsticks Squashies. Oh Yeah mmmm.

Hello of the Season Chosen by Me – Beryl Carr early in the season when Beryl spoke kind words about my T-shirt; an introduction and friend made. Fan of The Season – Alice Wheeler by herself home and away self-confessed football nut. Welcome to The Blue Army. Substitute of the Season Chosen by Gary the Gateman – is our own Barman of Distinction Pas. I was not there at the cup final game so in his own words I’ll let Gary tell the tale: “Pas was sat on the subs bench arms crossed and a face like someone had taken the jam out his doughnut the whole game. I couldn’t stop laughing the whole time” as told to me by Gary the Gateman. Performance of the Season Chosen by me – Malachi Johnson, Whitehill and Borden away put into the right back position only once did anyone get pass him an overall fantastic performance that I still rave about. Debut of the Season – well there can only be one – Son of Crouch, Leon Fitzgerald, - Hook Away – After getting moved from left back to the centre of defence/midfield a lucky bounce off him created the move to start the comeback from then on (don’t-Ed.) we knew he could grow into the game (and you did- Ed.). a player sadly missed after getting injured a couple of games later hopefully back for next season. Official Unofficial Volunteer of the Season – goes to the Editor (living on thin ice there for a moment-Ed.) without whom the match reports would be unreadable. A big thank you.

Sneaky Goal of the Season – Malachi Johnson assisted By Luke Holden in Stockbridge cup game. If you saw that goal, you still smile to yourself. You’ll Never get my Name of the Season – Old ‘un at The Shed End-Keith. Nice bit of detective work there Blue Army Alan. You Think I Should Work? of the Season – yep it’s Jobless. Keeping me on my toes when the treats are needed. Andover loyal Award – Graham Cousins always there with wise words of wisdom at half-time mainly about the referee. Sorry Graham but most I can’t put in the match report. Well, that’s about it thinks I’ve just about butchered the awards for the season hopefully it might tide you over to next season when I look forward to seeing you for more fun and games around Hampshire.
