Sholing 2–0 Andover Town

Two goals within seven minutes midway through the first half was enough to deny Andover Town a moral boosting New Year Victory. Sholing are a tough nut to crack on their home turf but apart from the absence of goals Andover made the home side work hard for the three points.

Playing up the pronounced slope Town had an early chance when after Adam Grange shrugged off two tackles to set up Lerone Plummer but his effort was diverted for a corner. At the other end Lloyd Thomas was kept busy until the deadlock was broken with twenty three minutes gone. In a central position a Sholing player appeared to handle the ball but the Referee indicated a free kick against Andover.Ross Gregory was cautioned for his protest before Micky Hubbards kick curled into the bottom corner beyond the reach of Thomas. Sholing doubled the score line five minutes five minutes later when Thomas could not hold on to a fierce volley and Dan Mason was on hand to net the rebound.

In the second half and now with the slope in their favour Town looked a much better side.The passes found the targets but Sholing defended well always able to get enough men behind the ball to frustrate the visitors. Just passed the hour mark Mitch Hunt ,on is debut hit a volley that must have warmed the hands of goal keeper Ryan Gosney. With fifteen minutes left Javier Santafe-Vivo looked to have scored a consolation for Andover from a free kick but Gosney fumbled but than managed the save at the second attempt.
