Andover Town 8–1 Basingstoke Town Under 21's

Basingstoke Town were expected to send an experienced squad to contest this preseason friendly but instead were represented by their youth team. This was not the scenario Andover wanted ten days before the first league game but as the old adage implies - “You can only play what is put up against you”. In a one sided seven goal first half Reece Rusher contributed a hat-trick which included the best goal of the match. Zach Glasspool and Luke Dempsey shared a brace whilst Shane Lock also scored two and one more in the second half to complete his own Hat Trick.

The visitors were much better in the second period and were rewarded with a consolation goal ten minutes after the restart. Despite the adverse score line they continued to play the game with little luck but very much with the right spirit. The final warm up for Andover is at Sparsholt College on Saturday morning and then on Tuesday the new season kicks off when Bemerton Visit the Portway.
