Keith Calls It ...........

The year is beginning to turn and tension grows between myself and everyone’s favourite Jobless, the reason being the mornings are a bit chilly at 4 in the morning to have the door open, so she doesn’t have to use the expensive Logan Cook fitted cat flap! Tension also rose between me and the Editor due to the shower breaking down when I was in it so Saturday morning was taken care of! Whilst in the middle of fitting said shower The Secretary (Cassie Blue Army Alans Wife) rang to ask if I was still going as they had not received a reply on Friday, oops my mistake, with time and place for pick up secured, Saturday looked a bit brighter if I could finish the shower in time. Lunch came with 2 wires to fit and a final shower test (is that the how much water can one get on the floor test?-Ed.) all was good with a good 20 minutes before picking up. Blue Army Alan duly picked me up for the short trip to Fortress Portway. With a quick catch up on last week’s game not pretty from both sides and stinking hot that was the total of Blue Army Alan’s match report. With the teams up on the board after a quick chat to the ref, a quick chat to Shelia joined by Byll we sauntered round to The Bank End; places taken a how do to the Horndean keeper and we ………found ourselves walking round to The Alan Mussell Shed End.

Not for the first time this season I can only blame this on Owen not winning the toss and causing everyone all sorts of aggravation halfway there Town kicked off failing once again to shoot from the kick off. Still, we were away, the first 20 or so minutes saw a tentative game from both sides although Town having the better if somewhat wayward shots. Jack Langdown quickly becoming a Town favourite doing some fine work in midfield. We were looking good with spreading the ball diagonally across the pitch for the wingers to pick up with Luke Nulty giving the Horndean right back a game to forget. So it was a fine cross from Jack Langdown that found the ever-working Luke Holden to slot in for goal number one. 1-nil Town. This had the effect of the Horndean players to start arguing amongst themselves with the prediction the next goal would almost settle the game. Town grew strong with confidence and started ranging the Horndean goal with an almost shoot on sight policy; Sam Churchill from range going just wide, Owen over the top and with the clock moving toward half time Luke found himself with the goal at his mercy and sent the ball on the way to Stockbridge (you just can’t trust my promises Luke). Just after probably feeling like he should make amends Luke Holden raced onto a through ball from Nathan Lunness to slot in for number 2. At some point and I am hoping I am right about this Stanley Anoma (we hope for a decent match report but here we are-Ed.) came Number 16 (you sure?-Ed.) and he had some pace.

Half time came around 2-nil Town, and this was in the bag just a case of how many now. Making our way past the Shed a welcome sight greeted us and a comment that stuck “watch that 16 he is looking good” well pointed out Keith and good to see you. A quick chat with Ian Carr at the tea hutch for refreshments and back to where we started the day.

The second half under way Town just carried on with the exception who was now making mincemeat out of the Horndean defence Luke Holden nodded in at the far post for his hattrick. Jack and Stanley were running absolute riot down the left with Jack coming close on 2 occasions Stanley Anoma finally found the net from an angle for number 4. For his troubles Stanley was severely chopped down followed by the surreal moment of all the smallest Town players facing up to the man mountains of Horndean’s back line. A card and sin bin later play resumed for the last goal a free kick swung to the near post skimmed off a roaming Nathan Lunness. Note here the only shot Liam Reed in the Town sticks had to save was from a Nathan Lunness back pass and it was a good save since at home it is the only save a Town keeper has had to make. Game ended 5-nil to town just to sort the away performances out now!
