Andover Town 3–0 Hamble Club

Town progressed into the quarter finals of the wessex League Cup beating Hamble Club from the wessex Premier League 3-0. Daniel McCarthy took on the goal-keeper jersey for the injured Karl Steinborn-Busse, there were other changes from the win against Folland Sports at the weekend.

Andover went ahead early on when Johnson headed home from a free kick in the 8th minute. Town continued to force the match and went close a few times to double their lead. McCarthy was looking confident in his debut in goal. Hamble came close but their effort was cleared off the line. The half closed with Town in control with their 1-0 lead.

The second half began but the visitors found themselves down to 10 men when a late challenge on Smith gave the referee no choice but to show the red card. Just on the hour Town doubled their lead courtesy of Emans, then 17 minutes later substitute Appleby sealed the win to give Town a 3-0 lead. The visitors despite their efforts couldn't break through Andover's defence.

Town now go on to play Shaftesbury, from the Wessex premier, at the Portway in the Quarter Final on Tuesday 14th February.
