AFC Netley 5–1 Andover Town

"Once again the weather had changed so the shorts unpacked, sandals worn and sunscreen applied. With a brisk saunter to the teacounter a pint of hope severed it was time to take our place at the bank end.

With a quick chant of "your supposed to be at home" towards the Netley players it was time for kick off.

After Tuesday 2nd half performance fresh in the memory we hoped at 5 mins a meandered through our defence hope had a bucket of water thrown on it as The Town found themselves 1 nil down. Netley were strong with a back 4 who gave little away chances were few 20 mins later The Town were 2 nil down. We came back only to be restricted to long range shots the best of which was Owen's who's shot thundered off the cross bar. At 2 nil it wasn't said but we hoped we were able to salvage something until we went 3 nil down just before half time. The whistle couldn't come quick enough for half time just for the boys to have a break.

A wander to the Shed End pass the main the stand found us in our spot for Round 2. With a quick start Netley found themselves 4 nil up a bit of a funny one nobody knew excatly what happened even Netley didn't seem to celebrate, it was only our players slowly walking up to the centre that confirmed the score of 4th goal. 4 nil up and cruising the Netley team started shouting for infringements real or imagined only compounded when Malachi found himself in space and slid one in. We began to look a little better then Netley really seemed to lose gaining a couple of cards finally ending in a sending off for a Netley player. Deano was introduced wagers made as to how long he would last. Surprisingly the impact was good with more urgency a flutter of chances went begging. As we pressed Netley broke and scored, trouble was not one of our little group knew if it was their 4th, 5th or 6th ? But seeing the home page confirmed it was goal number 5. A Malakai challenge found a small amount of handbags which meant Deano was sent off and us calling for the final to make haste for the England game. 5-1 to Netley it ended."
